* If we are considering the field of academic publishing, then most of the work that have gone into the research or work would have been completed. The completed text is called the 'manuscript' and the author/s have to present it to the publishers. 

* If the publishers are going to take on the task of entire production and not self publishing by the author/s they will want to verify the works to the given audience. 

* This will include the editor and or the person in charge who will send the manuscript around so that persons who maybe experts in the field will review the work and send comments to be made into changes. 

* The author/s will be be involved in negotiating when the reviewing will take place, they will also correct and proof read before the the final output is made.

* The next step will be the phase where the publisher will send the text for editing, typesetting, referencing and finally printing. 

* Finally the publisher will use the marketing strategies and distribution to complete the cycle.
